God Sent Me, I Am His Movie

… Think of that God who is nothing but love—which has no sound, no form, and no language. But God had to talk to someone. So he made himself a devotee. God himself became the heart, and love appeared to be the form of the devotee. So there was no difference—for if the devotee is love, then there is no form to be called a devotee, and if God is only love, then there is no form for the devotee to call him as his beloved. So God said, “Let’s come down onto the knowing level, so that you should know yourself as a devotee and me as God. But let us have a pact that we will not forget each other.” The disciple said, “It’s not difficult—when I am your love and you are my heart, how can there be any division?”— just as you see in your own heart and love, there is no division.

But where is that which says, “I have a heart and love is in my heart?” It is the I, the ahankaar, the form-making consciousness. So God said, “I challenge you, you cannot remember me, you’ll forget.” The disciple was a little haughty and said, “I accept the challenge, I’ll show you that I never forget.” [Laughter.] So what did God do? God sent the disciple to earth, making him a form. Thus he was born as a person, a devotee, with form, and he had senses to know forms, to be with forms, and to like them. As soon as form was given to him, his I made him a form—which was never there. So ahankaar [ego] had come, the aham-aakaar  [form-maker]. What does it mean? Aakaar, the body, the form, was never there, but this ahankaar says, “The body is there, but it is made of God, so it is a form of love”—but not love.

The devotee tried hard to know, “How can it be possible that love has no language, no sound and no form and I have this form?” Yet he remained forgetful and suffered, because the moment he became a body he began to think, “Because I have senses, they need this form and that form.” For the whole group of senses were needy of things and forms and contact with them. So the devotee got wrapped up by the power of the senses that covered his Awareness—which was only Awareness, no God and no disciple, it was Oneness.

But the disciple had begun to see God with the body, thinking that there must be someone there. So wherever he went, God sent his anonymous name, “Will you be my Valentine?” [Laughter.] God himself has no form, and he expects that someone should not be knowing this. So the not knowing game is the game of Valentines Day, which is the day of love.

If anybody recognizes love, he recognizes his own Self—which God calls God, and the disciple also at that time calls God, for it’s one Reality. But as long as the disciple remains forgetful of his own true Self, if they become two, then he cannot get rid of the sense of duality, the I-consciousness. So it is said … [the Hindi song that was just sung] “God, I am your love and you are my heart,” which means the heart and love is one reality. Then how could they be two? Yet the mind describes them like that, because the mind is meant to divide, that is its maaya. So then God succeeded and became the winner, because the disciple forgot him. [Laughter.]

But when the disciple comes to know the love at heart and the heart itself is one reality, then Guru and disciple are not two forms. When this will come as the unfoldment of your awareness, then you can act as a Guru and I can act as a Guru, or Guru can act as a disciple and the disciple can act as a Guru. There is no difference, yet they will act. … But whenever the form reality is seen with these eyes, then the I-consciousness arises. That’s called ahankaar, ego, illusion, ego-intellect-mind, which is given to a human being. God himself gave it as a challenge. He said, “You try to remember me.” The disciple said, “I’ll remember.” But he gave him this ego-intellect-mind. [Laughter.] …

A human being in reality is word-free existence, the love. Since a human being comes to know love, so it is his knowledge of love, and love and knowledge is one. So knowledge becomes the Knower, and its functioning becomes action. It is one knowledge, one love, but the moment form is made, then form becomes the individual and seeks love—because it is covered by the very existence of the senses and form in matter. … So when you meditate, meditate on real love, which is love at heart, which is love in the Space, which is love as all the forms that it makes. Therefore, there is nothing in the world except one Being, and that is love alone. …

If you do not know the real meaning of love, then you get lost in the world. You interpret it as “your love,” which is called raag. Raag and dwaysh is one reality. Many times you mistake them as two things, raag and dwaysh, as if they are two words for two different existences, as if raag stands for love and dwaysh for hatred, which they are not. Raag-dwaysh is one reality. Raag-dwaysh means the mind. You can see the trait of the mind by the way it functions: it always functions to possess a certain thing or person and at the same time be afraid of losing it. So you are possessing it and at the same time you are afraid of losing it—which is your dwaysh, which is your pain. Therefore, raag is happiness and unhappiness at the same time. It looks to you as if happiness belongs to certain things or persons, whereas they [happiness and unhappiness] have nothing to do with the mind. When your mind is in deep sleep, every thing is there, every form is there, your bed is there, your house is there, your relations are there, but happiness and unhappiness and raag-dwaysh are not there. So raag and dwaysh is one reality being interpreted as two, and people keep working to avoid one thing over another and chose one thing over another—which does not work.

The simple thing is that you should not remain the mind. Take the mind into sam [evenness, Self], because the mind is visham [not even], dualistic—and sam is Oneness. So if you can realize, then unfold the power that the mind has always been sam—only because of its sprout as a tree, as a person, it forgot the root. The root of the mind is nothing but Space, and that Space is love, which everybody is seeking, because it is underlying, it is underground. [Laughter.] …

A human being is missing the knowledge and the love of his own true nature, which has been before he was born and will remain with him even when he is born. But he forgot this, so someone should remind him. It is the agency or instrumentality of Guru who knows there is no division anywhere. …

Oneness is Pure Love, Pure Knowledge, Pure Freedom. Since to a body-born it is Unborn, so he never gets it. Then the question comes, how to get it? By observing, by celebrating that which he has heard. He has heard, “You are Unborn, but your eyes and senses do not allow you to know this, so close your eyes and watch the Space. That is Unborn.” The quality of the Space is Nayanam chindanti… [The Space cannot be cut by weapons, burnt by fire, wet by water, or dried by wind], because it is Unborn. To the one who is born, death will come and take him away. Time will come and affect him. Ignorance of the Self will come and many of those ignorant of the Self will come and affect you. What is the effect? That you will become miserable. …

That is the delusion that a human being is pitted against. Every single day, he has to confront that illusion. Guru says, “You are living the life under illusion.” So the disciple asks, “What should I do? Because I have I, I have ego. I know I have a body and the body needs this and that, and the body sometimes enjoys and sometimes feels miserable. I go to the doctor, I get cured again, and again I feel happy, sort of, and then again I want to enjoy.” If you became happy, then why is it that you want to become happy a second time? Because you never become happy. So it is illusion that you think “I am happy and I am not unhappy.”

Guru says, “Look, there is a predicament with you, and if you do not cure this disease of illusion, it will cling to you up to death. After death you are also not going to be saved from it. It will incarnate again—another dream, and it will again see, and the same thing will happen.” But the disciple says, “No Guruji, I want to be free now, in this lifetime. It might be rare, but I want you to tell me what is the way to be ever-free.” Then Guruji says, “First of all, know that you have always been free before you took birth. After you took birth, ego came. The first thing is that ego-consciousness came and Pure Consciousness got lost. Immediately after that, a split second later, ‘I’ came, ‘my body’ came, ‘I and my body’ came, ‘I am the body' came. So if you can, try to unfold that which I say: Space you are, Forever Pure and Free. That is always with you.”

But the moment you woke up, you were born. In the night, you were all Space. But in the moment you again woke up, “I and mine” came. So every day you wake up and every day you die. How many times do you die? Every night. How many times are you born? Every day you are born. It is just the state of consciousness. After you are awake, how many times are you born again? “I want to have a car.” Now the body with a car is born. Then, the next day, “No, I  have concluded that a car will not work.” So you became without a car, and again you are dead. In every vritti [dualistic wave of consciousness], you are born and you are dead. So vritti is duality, and duality is birth and death.

When you hear me, I say you have the power to understand. After understanding, if you want to be free in this lifetime, then you have to get to the knowledge. And the knowledge is of your Being, unborn. Only then you’ll be free from the idea that you’re going to be dead. Everybody wants to avoid death, disease, destruction, all that. And everybody thinks that by following the mental vrittis and getting the associated things and forms you become happy.

You became happy because before your eyes Valentines Day has been presented. Everyone sacrificed and brought flowers, everyone sacrificed by his coming, all loving and full of heart. For at that time, Swamiji was there. One person has to be there for you, so that so many people are made happy just by his presence. So Guru has to become you—everywhere. He is the Valentine of everyone. Everyone knows, whenever I have received your flowers, or shook your hand, or met you, or looked at you, I’m yours.

When you have come to know that just as Guru is yours, in the same way the real Self, the immortal blissful Being is yours, then you will always be established in That—provided your practice becomes perfect. Close your eyes and meditate for ten minutes. … Just know at heart, “It is such a great challenge that Swamiji has given that he says you are Pure Free Forever—this Space. But I don’t want to accept it. I would like to accept it, but I fail to.” So he throws the challenge and becomes the winner, and you get defeated. But you need victory, Jai Ho [Victory to you]—Jai means Oneness, the achievement of the sense of Immortality and Bliss.

And I promise to you, if you have attained it, go anywhere, you will keep knowing, “Guru has sent me, Guru has produced me, I am Guru’s movie. God has sent me, God has produced me, I am his movie.” Parents and relations are produced and sent by Guru, by God, so they are God’s movie. Earth and the oceans have been produced and sent by God, so they are God’s movie. The sun has been produced and sent by God to shine, so it’s God’s movie. All the people who are breathing and all the air that is blowing have been produced and sent by God, so they are God’s movie. All the sounds have been produced and sent by God, so they are God’s space.

If all these things belong to God, where is your ahankaar that you say anything belongs to you? You will come to know your ahankaar also belongs to God and Guru, for it became immersed in the sense of Oneness. Since we are human beings who use language, just as with language we became dualistic, so with the use of non-dualistic language, the meaning of which should be towards Indestructibility, Pure Being, then we succeed and become One. I thank you, I love you, and, certainly, I’m your Valentine. … [Meditation.]
