Know the Knower

Swamiji:…[After Max had spoken] You can see that a utopia has been created, that all of you, who are coming from different professions and countries, are one with one thread which is permeating all the lives of human beings, animals, and birds. What is that? You must be waiting to hear about it. I have brought you to your closeness, to your Source, just as in the world of forms you can reach the aakaash, or space, in which all the airplanes and birds fly, and you have reached over here. Friends, if the aakaash were not in existence, we could not meet together. Therefore, being intelligent enough, we utilize the elemental aspects of this existence. We can use not only the earth on which we have walked, but also the aakaash, the space, with the idea, "Let us unite together — there is the possibility. We may be looking at each other as different, but the aakaash, the space, is not divided. Let us fly in it and join that Space which is even prior to the aakaash." What is that? Shyam Space. Before aakaash is one Space. There is no name for it, therefore I use the word "Shyam Space," or only "Space," which is the Space of Knowledge, of Knowingness. Look at it. Does everybody not know it? On the level of that Space, when that Space comes, when the Knower comes, the Knower knows that everybody is the Knower. It is the Knower even of five elements and, of course, of many things. If everybody is the Knower, then why should we only look at the toes, fingers, nose, and eyes of people? Why should we not look at the Knower of everyone?

The person who looks at the Knower of someone is not using the five senses. No doubt he looks like a human being and he looks like he is knowing the Knower through his senses, mind, ego, and intellect. No. That which was missing up to this time — Shyam Space — has brought about on earth or added the knowledge that the Knower is first and foremost. It is found in an ant and a leech, in a lion and an elephant, in a black person and a white person, in a Canadian, an Indian, an American and an English-person. Whoever there may be, the Knower is one and the same throughout. Having the knowledge of the Knower, why would it be difficult for this group to be sure enough that a second person will come to know the Knower if you talk about it? If you talk about things, about rouge, lipstick, nail polish and all that market organization or MBA information, then what will happen? The whole time you will be talking and you will have no chance or opportunity to have a glimpse of that Oneness, of that one Truth, or that one Thread, which is permeating all as the Knower.

When you have come to know the Knower, is the Knower black or white, this or that, earth or air, airplane or car, chair or table, or only eyes or ears? No. What is it? The Knower is simply the Knower. One day I asked Pragati, "Well, you must be having so much knowledge, writing all these things, that you must be knowing what the Knower is?" She tried to explain, she wanted to say, because that is what a human being feels. He feels so intimidated. If you ask him a question, he’s ready to answer it, he can’t even wait. [laughter] He does not admit that he does not know the answer, and he speaks. So then she said, "You tell me what the answer could be. I know the Knower." I said, "When you don’t explain it to me, then you can simply say, ‘I don’t know how to explain.’ That’s all. I’ll be satisfied." All of you know the Knower. But all of you have the chance to say, "I can’t exactly describe the Knower"…When you know who is email, female, and male, do you not have the Knower? You have the Knower. But you don’t care to know it, because it is so simple and so easy. All the things which are complicated are being taught. Anything which is so difficult, which people who are not very intelligent cannot understand or grasp, that is being taught…

The whole world can be improved — it’s with a guarantee that I say it can be improved — if some people inform about the Knower. That is what the expectation is of every genius who comes over here. Max feels great. He says, "Look, I may be here for four days, but all of you here — persons like Dan, Dick, Veena Prabuddh and all those people have spent more than thirty years — why can’t you talk about the Knower? I am still shy because I came late, so I don’t want to accept that I know the Knower." Fine, we accept this, because you have not practised it so much. But all of you have practised the Knower. With the assistance and the Lord of the Knower at my back, I reached Canada. And I did not talk about many things. I said, "So many things are there, but you are the Knower. The Knower is Absolute Bliss Consciousness, it is Amaram and Madhuram, it is Immortal and Blissful."…

People who learned everything but did not pay attention on the Knower have lost sympathy and all kinds of selflessness. Each became for himself, because each thinks he alone is the knower, that his ego is the knower and nobody else’s is. In this way, people have been taught to remain in that world, in that group, which is the group of not knowing the Knower. There could be many worlds, but I haven’t seen that world where everybody knows the Knower. I travelled far and wide physically, in dreams, and in the sky with my own inner airplane, and I saw that nowhere do they know the Knower. Everywhere they are blocked, all over the brahmaand [the universe].

When you have your direct experience, you are not going to change from that. If I have come to know that you have no ability to grasp the Knower, then how many hundreds of times will I speak about it to you? Early in the morning you get up and you forget the Knower. In the evening you sleep and you do not remember the Knower. The whole day you work, but you do not know the Knower. I’m not really in a mood for chiding, but I’m throwing a ball to you, just for you to pick it up and see how much you have missed and couldn’t catch. [laughter] How many hundreds of times, thousands of times I have thrown the ball, but it went out of your hands — either it slipped, or it has just gone wrong, or you fell down. Thus, the Knower. The ball is the Knower. If you know the Knower, you will have a ball. It will be, every time …

If you look at your senses and become sensual, mental, intellectual, and egotistical, do you think you are going to get to the Knower? Never. If you remain on earth, would you be able to know the sky if you don’t look at it? If you remain only the sky, flying all the time like all the pilots, like Akshay Kumar and Jack Desmarais, would you know the Knower? They don’t even know the sky, that it is indivisible, and they are much better than the sky. Here is the question, that human beings always fall on the body…

It is the unfoldment of ability that enables you to reach that plateau of awareness which Max has just spoken of: the awareness of Oneness. Oneness is a very vague word. But I have brought about "Oneness of the Knower," and everybody understands the Knower. That Knower is the Reality. It is unchanging, even undying, because it is unborn…This world is of birth and death and is called the consciousness that is a wheel. "Wheel" means bhanwar, a whirlpool or eddy. Is your mind not in a bhanwar, not in a wheel? Yes. It is only the mind which begins to wheel, or shed air out of itself just like a fan releases air. Early in the morning, the mind releases chaytan, consciousness, and you are dumb. Dumb of what? The water of the ocean is water throughout, but when the very water becomes a wheel, a bhanwar, a whirlpool, it has a different shape and it makes division. Then you say, "This is a whirlpool. This is water." Is there any whirlpool? Only water. Is there anything but God?…

The Knower is a very serious point. If we get into the talk of the Knower, you will start meditating, and if you meditate you sleep and never hear me. Even when I am speaking, many people tend to meditate and sleep, because they feel, "Ah! That's a good lullaby. He's speaking!" [laughter] And I want to make you hear, whether you are here for four days or [thirty years]…You have to be convinced, with as indivisible a conviction as the sky. You can never tell the sky, "You are divided." Wherever you go, you will find sky. In this way, the knowledge of the Knower must be all one, without a second, undivided. [To Max] You know mathematics, science, business, money, taxes, government, and all kinds of things and forms. Is the Knower not there? The Knower is all-permeating. But what is the deficiency among human beings? They don’t want to pay attention to that, because they have become fully convinced that they are buckets and baskets. Do you expect such human beings to know they are the Knower, who are completely convinced that they are buckets and baskets and that when these buckets and baskets are broken they die? In the human being — who is brilliant with the Knower and who lives a hundred years without any eventuality — do you think that the Knower is sick, deprived, emotional, worried, agitated, or concerned? Does the Knower care for the world or is it concerned for you as a body? The Knower is free from this type of sense of otherness or duality that this mind makes. Human beings began to think they are only minds, and with minds they can make a beautiful world…

The ego never exists. Have you not checked your mouth, eyes, ears, stomach, tongue, and hair? Where is the ego? The ego is nowhere. There's only the Knower. That is everywhere, everything. You believe in half the science, that's why it doesn’t work. You have to reach the quark. But you cannot, because you think you are baskets and buckets…Friends, if you have the Knower open, you are an open person. Then go anywhere, whatever short or long stay you may have but you have to be tuned in to the Knower. The Knower is free from female and male, from this and that, from covers and darkness and light. That is your enlightenment. That is the Knower. Thank you very much everyone, [applause] thank you! It's lovely to see that you have reached that height of understanding. I’m really very, very high and happy, and healthy too, when I understand that you know the Knower.
