Meditation for the Observation of Peace

On Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at 10:30 a.m., India's population of over a billion kept two minutes silence in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack the previous week. Swamiji also called all the people at the IMI for a special meditation that Tuesday morning. This is the message that he offered.

Swamiji: Once again, you got the chance to meditate. Thirty-two years before, we decided that there are two things: one is ignorance, one is knowledge. We should always take the side of knowledge, get away from ignorance, and be at peace. Close your eyes and we will meditate.

[Meditation for one hour]

Swamiji: The technique of peace is the observation of peace. You are Pure, Peace, Free, Forever. But anytime one breaks his peace and silence and disjoins from the Self, he is in the field of doubt and division. With division, Self, Peace, or Silence is destroyed. Since your nature and truth is Pure Silence, Pure Self, Pure Peace, the technique is to remain tuned in to the nature of the Self that alone is. Then the love, joy, and harmony will be lived in the so-called tormented and divided world. The person who is tuned in to the Peace, Self, and Pure Silence comes to realize and know that Self and the creation of the Self is undivided. Being tuned in to the Self, he will never destroy the world.

I’m glad that all of you have shared this experience and technique of observing Peace. It doesn’t matter with what pretext you get together and observe Peace. May you be blessed with the awareness of your own Silence, your own Peace, your own true nature. The result of practising the technique of how to observe Peace, or the observation of Peace, is lots of love and lots of harmony. Thank you very much. Amaram Hum Madhuram Hum.
