Swamiji's Amaram Day
You Were Born To Achieve This Awareness

We will start with Swamiji’s final talk on January 30th, which leads directly into his Amaram Day celebration on the 31st .

… There is the bindu or dot in a circle, the radii, and it's whirling. I had given you the example of a stick, the point of which is burning. Someone was burning a big bamboo stick, and he put it on the ground. The flame has gone, but the spark is still there. And now, he started whirling it. It is a whole circle. It is a bindu [the centre, or infinity], and it is the whole circle’s radii, and it is all kinds of styles, for he can have millions of whirling. In this way, the very Self, with his maayaa power, has made the whole world out of himself. And he himself says, “It is other than me.” The artist says, “All the drawings are other than me.”

But now, he is exposed to you. You know that there is nothing other than You. You alone are. That is called the glory of God. So if you have come to know Me, then you became Me. Tulsi Daas, a very great poet who wrote the Ramaayan and described Raam [God], wrote the line, “Oh Raam, wherever you are, anybody on earth who knows You is none other than You. He becomes You. There is no difference.” For when you are connected to the bindu, it like when the radii are connected—they are all the bindu. When all the rays of the sun are connected to the sun, then wherever they are, they are the sun. ... So I and you are forever one. …

Up to this time, there was only the radius. This “I am the body” is a radius. All taken together are nothing but You. It is not plural, not radii, for they are all joined with the centre. That bindu is a kind of guru consciousness. From there, there are Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh, the Creator and Dissolver, this and that. So there is no birth and no death. When you realize this, you become free. After that, you have compassion for all the children, for all the people, for those who do not know what to do. …

January 31, 2006: Satsang began with everyone going up to Swamiji to offer him garlands and flowers and with him offering each person the same in return. Many beautiful songs written by Swamiji were presented, we meditated, Swamiji spoke several times, and we enjoyed prasaad, as satsang flew on for four hours. Here are some of the highlights.

I am aware of the purest love of your hearts, which is known to God. And I am fortunate enough that God has made me know the love of your hearts. I thank him and remain grateful to that eternal reality, the supreme being, the pure consciousness, pure existence, pure bliss. That is our nature, that is our truth. … You brought garlands in your hands and stood, taking your turn. We start the manifestation from the garland. The child of a human being is a garland to his parents, a manifestation to the world. That is why the earth becomes blessed when it is touched by a child, a form, the manifest garland of God. Without God, the garland cannot be made. Without God, flowers cannot be made. Without God, the cotton thread cannot be made. Without God, all the flowers cannot be united by giving one knot to the thread of the garland. …

Guru, who is the supreme scientist, the supreme being, knows that there has never been anything else but supreme reality, supreme being, supreme science. He knows that which is forever pure and free. … He himself knows, because although he appears to be a body, he has never been a body, he has never been a figure of a dream. But people in the waking state are the manifest reality, for whom he has concern or compassion that “They are the same as me, but somehow they know that I am aware of what is before the beginning and what is after the end and what is in between. But they themselves do not know. Therefore, they like to join and to unite, because they know that they are flowers, but they are scattered.” Guru has a garland because he knows that that is unity, and there has never been a beginning of the flowers and there will never be an end. In this way, they come near, and they have love for that knowledge and that being. That is why their hearts are full of love.

That is why I said I know the love of your hearts, which is the saakshee [witness self]. There is nothing else for the saakshee except love. There is nothing else for the saakshee except knowledge. There is nothing else for the saakshee except forever the same. These are the occasions. We celebrate, and our consciousness, which remains tagged and bound with the body, gets released. … You know every meaning that I speak, because you and I are one and the same at this time. You were born to achieve this awareness. Amaram Hum Madhuram Hum. The next program will be your songs, then the next program will be prasaad, and the next program will be the end of satsang. [Laughter.] Thank you very much. [Applause.] …

The onlooker of forms has a question: “What is in these forms that I don’t understand? They give joy, and when they are not there, then joy is not there.” So due to forms there is this complication, created in the head, which is called confusion. The experimenter wants to know that which resides in the forms. Now, you can watch. What resides in forms? The mountain is there. What resides in it? Cohesiveness. Cohesiveness is not seen, the pebbles, sand, rocks and mountains are seen. The ocean is there. Water, waves, noise, and creatures are all seen, but fluidity is not seen. You can’t catch fluidity. In the same way, the sky is seen, blueness is seen, but if blueness were not there, then the sky would not be seen. The movement of air, breeze and storm, are seen, but air is not seen. A flower is seen, but fragrance is not seen. I’m talking about all the forms and that which resides in the forms. In this way, Guru’s voice is heard, but the meaning is not seen. Guru’s face is seen, but that which is making him alive is not seen. That is how God is hidden within every thing, every form, whether insentient or sentient. That God is supreme being, supreme science, supreme knowledge, supreme bliss. …

What is that which is unseen, unknown, and a human being does not have the ability to know? That is called guru consciousness, god consciousness, love consciousness, knowledge consciousness, light consciousness. It is all consciousness. It is called pure consciousness. Consciousness and existence are names for that which is not known: it is indescribable. But when you meditate, then you come to know that which was hidden in the forms and hidden in no forms, or that which is not seen. … All of you have heard me and have come to know That. Because it has been received by me, by the words of Guru, it has become clear that there are no forms except consciousness. When you come to know that all the forms are consciousness and consciousness is all the forms, then whether forms are appearing or disappearing, consciousness will be held forever just the same, which I say is You or I, pure free forever. Thank you very much. [Applause.] …

[Explaining the song Mayray To Aadhar Sat Guru Dev Kee Charanada Bindu.] We, the intelligent persons, can understand what our source is by an example. Take one circle. There can be a dot in the middle, from where the circle is drawn. If everyone walks from the dot, who will get up? The dot itself will get up. And walk where? The feet will go everywhere and touch the horizon. Each radius will walk on his feet, each in his own direction. And he will lose the understanding of where he came from. Because in the world of forms, the forms are attractive, and a human being becomes attached to them, gets stuck over there, and never comes back. So it is being said to him, “Your source is your bindu, the centre from where you arose, from where you were born, with your feet down.” Now, you can watch that if each human being goes towards the source, Charanada bindu, then wherever the bindu of charan is, wherever the dot of the feet is, wherever the dot of the radius is, if it goes back and back, it will reach the bindu. Each radius will reach that. That is infinity.

You were born, and you got involved in toys, things, and forms. And now you are so attached that when one toy is broken, you are getting another. Another is broken, you get another. And another. You think that toys will give you joy. But no. Your basis is the only source of emancipation. Your knowledge now is of things and forms. Therefore, get to the source. And that can be done only through meditation. …So the real meaning of this song is sat guru. Where is sat? Sat is that dot which never changes into anything. Infinity is never changed. But a human being does not know that one infinity can retain all the world and its parts in its own. Whereas one who knows, knows that one seed has all the branches in it, and, from there, all the branches come. If every branch goes towards the seed, it will reach there. Then it will know, “I am immortal, unchanging, and blissful.” So each person has that understanding, or ego-sense of I. If you go through the same I, it doesn’t matter which radius you go through, you will reach the centre of the radii. All the radii will reach the I. That is the sense of liberation. And that is the desire of every human being. …
